A unique blend of spoken word, story-telling, performance art and rave; Suburbia is a poetic memoir about his life from his childhood in the Medway Towns, Kent, to discovering the drug 'ecstasy' in the 1990s, the clubs of New York and to building a queer community in London.
Now in his fifties, Woo is reflective and honest about the secrets he harboured and the lessons he learnt. His wit is sharp and his desire to shock and surprise is evident throughout.
Expect chiffon dresses galore; wigs; secret confessions and fireworks.
Suburbia played to packed houses at Soho Theatre, London in 2025 and to critical acclaim at Summerhall as part of their Edinburgh Fringe 2025 programme and has been nominated for 2 ‘Offies’ in the ‘Production’ and ‘Performance’ categories.
Suburbia is anything but suburban.
