Extraordinary women whose courage, daring, ingenuity and sacrifice defeated Nazi terror.

Songwriter and storyteller Louise Jordan uncovers the lives of inspiring secret agents of WW2.

Who were they? How were they selected and trained to commit acts of sabotage, subversion and silent killing? Did they ultimately evade capture, torture and execution?

Behind Enemy Lines is a solo performance of live music, original songs, storytelling, soundscape, acting and choreography. Join Louise Jordan as she honours the inspirational lives of some of history’s lesser known women.

Having toured across the UK and Europe since 2010, Louise became focused on telling hidden women’s stories in 2015 with her one-person touring production ‘No Petticoats Here: extraordinary women of the First World War’. This was followed by ‘The Hard Way: the true story of working class suffragette Hannah Mitchell’ in 2018 and ‘Florence; the lesser known life and legacy of Florence Nightingale’ in 2020 before the Covid-19 pandemic led Louise into the world of street theatre with her ‘Pop Up Pedestal’.

A former history teacher and youth worker, Louise has written songs for UK Parliament and the V&A Museum, appeared in UK Vogue, given talks for the National Trust, University of Oxford and Hampshire Police. The thread that underpins all of Louise’s work is her desire to challenge existing narratives around gender and power.
