To celebrate the opening of the new dedicated Cosgrove Hall Films Archive space at Sale Library, Waterside, CIT and the Cosgrove Hall Films Archive are delighted to present a series of hands-on animation workshops taking place at Waterside Arts in The Studio.
Suitable for ages 5 and up, these imaginative and accessible sessions offer a playful introduction to the world of stop-motion animation, inspired by the iconic characters and films from the Cosgrove Hall Films Archive.
Discover the magic of stop-motion animation in this fun, hands-on workshop with a Valentine’s twist. Participants will learn the basics of stop-motion animation while creating and animating a charming Valentine’s-themed idea.
About the Artist – Sanna Räsänen
Sanna Räsänen graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University with a degree in Animation in 2021. She began working professionally as a model maker while still at school, contributing to a number of commercial projects. Her graduation film Takatalvi was shortlisted for the RTS Student Awards 2021.
She went on to work as Production Designer and Model Maker on the short film Squib, which won the Poetry Category at The Motion Picture International Film Festival and the Shark Award for Best Animated Film, alongside multiple nominations including the British Animation Awards.
In 2022, Sanna was shortlisted for the Lamb Award at the BAA’s. For the past three years, she has worked as Art Director at One6th on the BFI-funded short film Two Black Boys In Paradise. Released in 2025, the film has since been nominated for a BAFTA.
