Void uses various animation and image-making techniques such as CG animation, 2D animation and AI to explore the notion of a threshold throughout time.

In making the work filmmaker Antony Barkworth–Knight was preoccupied by two ideas - the threshold as a metaphor as well as a physical reality; and the impending possibility of an AI singularity, a point in time in which artificial intelligence surpasses human intelligence.

“To me the singularity seems somewhat unfathomable. I don't know what it will look like or how it will change the world but it does seem once the singularity is reached we will pass through into a period of human history unlike anything that has gone before.”

Antony Barkworth-Knight is a filmmaker from Manchester. He produces diverse work encompassing artist film, documentary, music video and live performance. Central to his work is a strong interplay between audio and visual. This interplay is driven by the use of a wide variety of techniques, such as hand-drawn animation, abstract video, field recordings and intimate interviews. The end results are tapestries of sight and sound.
