Sale at Work: Creatives is a celebration of the vibrant talent that shapes Sale. Photographer Sonya Smith and writer Lucy Tomlinson have captured the stories of 30 creatives who live and work in the town, building a captivating portrait of a community that dreams, makes and innovates.
The original Sale at Work exhibition portrayed 42 workers from Sale through words and images. As Trafford contributes 25% of Greater Manchester’s creative workforce, making it the largest source of talent among the city-region’s ten boroughs, it was a natural progression to turn the lens on Sale’s cultural industries.
This new collection commissioned by Waterside builds on the themes of Sale at Work, exploring the working lives of painters, poets, architects, musicians and more. Through conversations about career paths, childhood passions and present-day inspirations, the exhibition offers an insight into the lives of just some of the people who come together to form Sale’s thriving creative community.
