EVENT INFORMATION

This is the story of an extraordinary explorer, a curious conjurer and pioneering problem-solver. You’ll find him pottering in his shed; planning his latest mission. He is learning to speak Penguin and hopes that you will too!

When he arrives at the Antarctic will its icy wilderness meet his excited expectations? Will the penguins’ reception be frosty, or will the colony welcome him with open wings?!

With a playful energy and a mix of puppetry, music and song, this show will be a delightful celebration of wild creativity and the joy of individuality.

Waddle on down and join the expedition!

The Man Who Wanted To Be A Penguin follows in the footsteps of the company’s previous successes: The Hare & The Tortoise, The Little Red Hen, The Enormous Turnip, The Elves and the Shoemaker, 3 Little Pigs, Goldilocks and the 3 Bears, The Emperor’s New Clothes, The Gingerbread Man and Puppet Panto.

BSL & RELAXED PERFORMANCE

Saturday 3rd December 11am. This performance will be a relaxed and BSL interpreted event. We will tone down any loud noise and lighting effects, keep the auditorium lights on low, and take a relaxed approach to movement and noises. A separate chill out space will be provided if you need some time out of the performance. A Visual Story board is available on request by contacting box office.

MAKE A PENGUIN PUPPET! DIGITAL WORKSHOP

Make a puppet with Stuff and Nonsense puppet-maker Holly Miller!

Choose to make either a Penguin or Pinocchio. Holly describes and demonstrates the process in manageable chunks, with opportunities to pause and freedom to experiment.

The making process encourages creativity and crafting skills, whilst using the puppets afterwards can encourage storytelling and character development, alongside wider communication skills.

The materials used in the workshop are easy to source and offer an exciting way to recycle household items.

Recommended for ages 6+ with some help from grown-ups.
